The Deep Somatic
Breathing Method

What is somatic breathwork?

Somatic breathwork is a guided breathing practice that uses a specific breathing pattern and music to help you access deeper awareness, release stored emotion, and process unresolved experiences held in the body.

What happens during a somatic breathwork session?

During a session, you use a continuous in-in-out breathing pattern while listening to curated music. This shifts your state of consciousness so your body can process tension, emotion, and memories naturally. Sessions usually include intention-setting, a 45–60 minute breathwork journey, and coming back together for a closing circle to process the experience.

What is the history and origin of somatic breathwork?

Our breathwork practice is inspired by Holotropic Breathwork, developed by psychiatrist Dr. Stanislav Grof. Grof created this method as a safe way to access expanded states of awareness and support emotional release, inner healing, and personal transformation without using psychedelics. His work grew out of decades of research in transpersonal psychology and mind–body healing.

What is somatic breathwork used for?

People use somatic breathwork for emotional release, healing old patterns, reducing stress or anxiety, gaining clarity, navigating transitions, and reconnecting with their inner guidance.

How does somatic breathwork differ from talk therapy?

Instead of talking through your experiences, you use intentional breathing to quiet the thinking mind so deeper layers of emotion, memory, and insight can surface on their own. Talk therapy helps you understand your patterns. Breathwork helps you feel and release what those patterns are holding.

How does somatic breathwork complement talk therapy?

Somatic breathwork and talk therapy work hand in hand. Breathwork accesses the body’s stored emotion and unconscious material, while therapy helps you understand and integrate what rises to the surface. When used together, they create a more complete mind-body healing process.

Meet Heather

Heather is a somatic breathwork coach who came to this work through her own long term healing path. After years of talk therapy that helped her understand her patterns and make sense of her history, she tried somatic breathwork and experienced something different. The sessions allowed her to feel what she had previously only been able to name. She moved through past traumas, early memories, and longstanding emotional patterns in a way that brought a deep sense of clarity and breakthrough.

That experience led her to train in somatic breathwork so she could help others access the same kind of inner shift. Heather’s approach is grounded, attuned, and shaped by personal experience as well as years of somatic exploration and guiding people through emotional processing. She creates a space where people can explore what is held in the body, release old patterns, and reconnect with their own inner wisdom.
